Ranch Overview
Elkhorn Ranch opened its gate in 1922 and a tradition of western hospitality and family-oriented outdoor adventure began. In this corner of Montana much remains unchanged: acres of unspoiled country surround the dude ranch, offering unlimited horseback and hiking trails through National Forest, Wilderness and Yellowstone National Park; nearby blue-ribbon fishing streams challenge the fly fisherman; families enjoy the rustic comfort of our fifteen private log cabins and mouthwatering meals prepared daily and served in the original dining room. An excellent kids’ program and a variety of activity options, both on the ranch and in the area, allow everyone the chance to have their own brand of adventure in addition to very special family time.

Ranch Accommodations
Scattered along the edge of the meadow are fourteen original guest cabins built from logs harvested on our Montana dude ranch in the 30s and 40s. Ranging from one to four bedrooms, all cabins are outfitted with comfortable beds, wood heat, private baths and covered porches where much of the ranch socializing is done.

Ranch Activities
In addition to exploring this area by horseback on long and short rides, there is access to endless hiking trails, excellent fly fishing on the Gallatin or Madison Rivers; Yellowstone National Park is next door and Big Sky is nearby for more hiking, white water rafting, zip lining or golf. The opportunities are endless although the activities on the dude ranch are the most popular.
